Originally designed to reach maturing
High School students who have known Jesus for more
than one year, the studies below would easily accommodate
a "new believers" format comprised of adult ages.
A LETTER TO PARENTS
The Prompting of Student Discipleship
Local churches and ministries are doing a marvelous
job preparing students to view their faith in practical,
down-to-earth terms. Opportunities abound with fun
activities intended to make Christianity relevant.
While this approach is important, it is also true
that it is insufficient in preparing students to engage
an increasingly secular world. Indeed, the amount
of knowledge and understanding most students have
about Christianity pales in comparison to the fun
and entertaining opportunities offered them in evangelical
churches today.
The Purpose of Student Discipleship
Therefore, the objective of this series is simple:
To prepare students to be warriors for God in a world
that desperately needs Jesus. Since these studies
assume that a person can only apply what he or she
knows and understands, the goal is to provide students
with opportunities to integrate their faith in all
aspects of life through a balanced, biblical worldview.
The People of Student Discipleship
Intended primarily for those who have a relationship
with Jesus Christ, these studies will build upon the
foundation already laid by parents and the Church.
Nothing contrary to classic, historical Christian
beliefs is taught. If denominational distinctives
are highlighted, students are encouraged to discuss
them with their parents and Church.
The Plan of Student Discipleship
The emphasis is on spiritual maturity through biblical
knowledge, reinforced through practical application
and accountability to occasional questions and answers.
